Justin makes Harare move

On Thursday Justin Walters moved 33 places up the Golden Pilsener Zimbabwe Open leaderboard, claiming an early hold on second after he shot a six-under-par 66 at Royal Harare Golf Club. and who would of thought that he would do that, but here he is. Despite having missed the cut in his last two appearances in the R1,5-million tournament, Walters looked very much comfortable and finished just two strokes back from morning leader Albert Pistorius.

Little did we know that he is the world’s 411th-best golfer but started on the back nine and turned in 34 strokes. And to those who know golf, It was a steady buildup to his explosive second loop, which started with a hat-trick of birdies from the first to the third. “It was one of those things that really push you in the right direction,” he said of his birdie streak

There are greater golfers coming throw here in South Africa, the rest of the world should watch the space. Walter is known as a two-time winner on the Sunshine Tour but he shifted his focus to the weekend, and that’s cause for the competition to fret. “At the end of the day if I can keep doing what I’m doing then hopefully by Sunday I’ll be there with a chance. That’s all I’m really worried about,” he said.

Sharks end tour on a high

The Sharks capitalised on a dream start to nail down a 29-23 win over the Blues in their final Vodacom Super Rugby tour match at Eden Park in Auckland on Friday and in so doing keep them well in contention as they head into an extended home leg.

Sharks went in that game with a the same strategy the Hurricanes pulled on then, giving away the domination of the possession, certainly in the first half, and who camped most of the match in the Sharks territory. Personally id say that a good way to go about things, learning from your mistakes and from other because life might be too short to learn from only your mistakes. Skipper Daniel and hooker Craig Burden played a big role on filling the shoes to the injured Bismarck du Plessis and the did that pretty well because they were seen the outstanding players on the Sharks side, and both of these players set themselves up for the game with early intercepts that led to tries.

What will liked to be heard are the debatable tries, ther were a few but the one thats on peoples mouths is, the first 8 points of the game that the sharks took by a horrible knock-on after a good Blues lineout take giving the Sharks the opportunity to take the play into the Blues half for only the second time in the game and that penalty was taken by Patrick Lambie.

The Blues failed to capitalise on that field position, and little mistakes coupled with the Sharks’ good defence ensured that they were made to pay for their decision not to kick. let me know what you think about the game my good readers

Nissan GT-R vs Jaguar XKR-S

The first official test in South Africa of Nissan’s 2012 spec GT-R and the Jaguar’s most potent car – the XKR-S. These two cars have been tested this in the year 2012, to prove once and for all which one is faster than the other one. The Jaguar has been available locally since last year. Both are grand tourers. Both spit similar outputs. But that’s where the similarities stop.

With 404kW and 680Nm from its supercharged 5-litre V8, and a top speed of 300km/h, Jag says this is the fastest series production car it has ever built. In comparison, the new twin-turbocharged 3.8 V6 GT-R makes less power at 397kW and 628Nm. With such power in these two cars cames great responsibility.

Its proven by the people who know cars that the Nissan is less powerful than the Jag on paper, but as you know output’s not always the be all and end all of overall performance. Best times recorded were 3.50 seconds and 11.57 seconds respectively for the Nissan, and 4.73 and 12.88 for the Jaguar.

But the Jag is a much more livable car that offers a certain duality. Its lap times will be slower but I’d happily sacrifice a second or two for a spinal cord. Granted, the Nissan costs a lot less at R1.35-million compared to the Jaguar at R1.7-million. -Star Motoring
